Back in March, I had the opportunity to shoot a baby shower for the very sweet Karina & Susan who were expecting their little girl to arrive in early May.  Newborn photo sessions usually take place within 1 to 3 weeks of a baby being born, so we planned for May 23, figuring that the timing would be just about right by then.  Well, miss Greyson had an little April Fools present for her mommies and decided she’d rather be born on April 1st :-)  Because she decided to come on on out and join the world a bit early, her weight at birth was less than 6 lbs.  So despite the fact that the photos may be a little later than usual, we decided that they still count because she just now weighs about as much as the average newborn!

Last weekend on a rather “warm” Saturday, we headed out to the Foothills Golf Club in Phoenix for the wedding of Melissa & Ryan.  The story of how this adorable couple first met is so sweet :-)  Melissa is a teacher and Ryan just happened to be volunteering at her school for the day.  They ended up having breakfast together, started talking and just hit it off.  What are the odds, right?  Guess it just goes to show that on any given day you could meet the love of your life in the most ordinary of ways (at work or while doing volunteer work, perhaps?)  It’s so cool that we get to see so many wonderful love stories come to fruition all the time – what a great way to make a living :-)

On to Melissa & Ryan’s big day!  The day began with hair and makeup at La Bella Salon & Day Spa  in Chandler.

What can we say?  The 5/16 was calling to us for this fun ring shot . . .

This shot was taken just after Melissa got her dress on.  There’s something serene and beautiful about it that I just love.  It’s sort of a strange choice since there are so many other great shots, but I’m pretty sure it’s my favorite of the whole day :-)

Guys are so lucky!  No curling irons or makeup to do AND they get a pool table in their room!

They chose a first look so we could do some of their photos before the ceremony.  I love how the wind picked up Melissa’s veil as she was walking out to meet her hubby-to-be.

After the ceremony, we grabbed some golf carts and headed out to the golf course to take some portraits of the newlyweds.

Party time!  Their reception had an awesome color scheme and great details that tied everything together.

But the best part . . . there was a FISH in every center piece!

Last Saturday I did a newborn mini-shoot for Adrienne and her new baby girl, Mimi Jean.  Mimi was born on April 24.  When I arrived at their home I was surprised to find her wide awake!  For being just a couple of weeks old, she sure was attentive.  Newborns are usually asleep for most or all of their photo sessions, but she was watching me the whole time.  Such big eyes!!!  Here are a few favorites from their session.
